For my approach, I like to combine techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy, Dialectical Behavioral therapy, and trauma-focused approaches such as EMDR and BrainSpotting. I strive to provide a collaborative relationship with the client so that together we work towards their goals. I operate from a health-at-every-size approach and provide an inclusive, safe environment for all people. I am passionate about incorporating creativity and healing through expressive arts and writing if the client wants to use this in their therapy journey. I also truly believe that healing starts through building safety through building a therapeutic rapport with the client.
If you are looking for someone who truly understands the complexities of living with chronic pain, chronic illness, or eating disorders, I am here to help. If you are feeling hopeless in your struggle with an eating disorder, please know that you are not alone and that recovery is possible. If you are ready to move beyond past trauma and painful experiences, I can support you in finding healing, safety, and practical tools to help you move from simply surviving to truly thriving.
Sessions begin with making sure I am providing a safe space and that we are working together towards your set goals. The first session is the intake assessment so that I can learn more about you. Then we focus on the treatment plan and goals. The sessions flow and are based on your goals. During sessions, you will see the different approaches I mentioned before, and always allow you to have a voice in the session and to make sure you are being validated and heard.
I believe that everyone should feel seen, heard, and validated in their emotions. Additionally, clients heal in safety and inclusive environment. I am part of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and work on fighting against the dangers of diet culture. I believe all bodies are good bodies and building a peaceful relationship with food. I was a former nurse and have lived experience with an autoimmune disorder, so I truly understand things such as medical trauma and the complexities that come with chronic pain and chronic illness.
I am a Latina who speaks Spanish and really believes in making sure everyone feels safe in therapy. I am living with an autoimmune disorder and I am neurodivergent. I operate at a health-at-every-size lens.
